The Recipe for Success program offers women who struggle with nutritional insecurity and unemployment to participate in vocational training at Be’er Sheva’s Chef’s College. This certificate-granting course is two semesters long, providing a total of six months of intensive study. In addition to acquiring the cooking skills necessary to qualify for employment in the culinary field, the program helps each participant individually to prepare for interviews, learn about various work environments and receive assistance with networking so as to increase her job prospects. The program is run in partnership with the Be’er Sheva Municipality’s Maagal HaChayim V’HaTaasuka (The Circle of Life and Employment). A critical aspect of this programming is the reinforcement of long-term job stability. Therefore, each graduate also receives professional consultation services as well as follow-up support during her first year post-completion in order to ensure that she can maintain her new position.
